Overview of the 2018 Volkswagen Passat

Where the Volkswagen Passat really excels is inside. Although sized a little narrow compared to the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord, the Passat’s interior boasts true stretch-out room in the back seat and mostly high-grade materials. A nearly 16 cubic-foot trunk is another asset.

While the front seats are comfortable, it’s the back seat that earns the Passat its real accolades. It’s positively palatial, with much of the sedan’s nearly 118 cubic-feet of interior volume allocated to row two. Three abreast can be tight, but two passengers will feel like they’re in a small limousine. Similarly, the Passat’s 16 cubic-foot trunk has a wide opening and a flat floor.

Other features that help the Passat is its low window line and skinny roof pillars, which offer a terrific view out compared to rivals with increasingly low roof lines. That’s a trade-off for the Passat’s upright, dull exterior styling, and it’s fine with us.

What’s new for the 2018 Volkswagen Passat?

This new Volkswagen gets a new GT trim for V-6-equipped cars that comes with a sport suspension, R-Line bumpers and grille, 19-inch alloy wheels, dual exhausts with unique tuning, and red brake calipers. A new 2.0-liter turbo-four replaces the old 1.8-liter turbo-four as the new base engine.
